smithie 2,443 Posted October 25, 2016 Report Share Posted October 25, 2016 Both good motors but both rust like mad. If you go for the patrol look behind the plastics on wheel arches. If you can't see put your fingers behind and have a feel. But go slow as I expect it to be sharp if it's got any age to the bus. Have a look at chassis on y61 behind rear wheels. Mine was good but I was told they can rot there. Think the 2.7 diesel terrano is the engine that used to be used in the London black cabs Quote Link to post Share on other sites
neil82 1,080 Posted October 26, 2016 Report Share Posted October 26, 2016 the TD27 is one of the better engines to come out of japan, may be a bit down on power but well capable of clocking up mega miles, only real fault we used to see on them was failed oil pressure switches (the terrano gearbox on the other hand is another story, especially when used for towing) Quote Link to post Share on other sites
