Francie 6,368
Francie on the subject of painful situations about 25 years ago I dug down to my dog with two opponents ahead of him, one bolted over the front one and ran straight into my other terrier chained further down the hill, the terrier grabbed it and they pulled the spike out and the two rolled down the hill, after chaining up the other terrier I ran down the hill and grabbed the chain with one hand and my dogs tail with the other hand, he had a good hold of the arse end of it, then it flipped round and grabbed my hand that had hold of my dogs tail, I soon let go and one of my fingers looked like a half peeled banana, I was in hospital for five days. They saved my finger luckily, but trying to explain to the surgeon what had happened still makes me smile. Ive no like button lad, so have a ? I can just picture it now haha Quote Link to post

NO, I'd be too embarrassed, LOL. The worse doing I got was off a dog fox who I had by the back legs and brush and the terrier had by the nose. As I went to scruff him the terrier let go and he got my thumb and half my hand in his mouth. I asked my daughter to put the corner of the shovel in his mouth and prize it open. As she went to he let go and I said "great". In a split second he had my hand in his mouth again. I ended up with 11 bites. The next morning we were at the meet and everyone was asking what happened my hand. What I didn't know was that my daughter was telling everyone behind my back that I cried like a baby. I actually let that fox go, he was a beauty. But the funniest I've ever seen regarding someone getting bitten was when a friend came down for a hunt with some English chaps. The lad who got bitten is a relative of our member, The General, and he was in the hole drawing a fox backwards when it caught him across the foot. I was standing over the earth with a 3 shot semi auto waiting for a bolt. The two other Irish lads were on the side of the dig rolling around with laughter in danger of shitting themselves. One of the English men looked a little concerned. And the other English man pulled the gun out of my hands and aimed it at the fox. Please bear in mind that the fox still had this mans foot in it's mouth. The English man was waving the gun all over the place trying to get a shot when I took the gun back off him. Funny enough, I had the gun in one hand and scruffed the fox with the other and he let go, which never happens. I carried him out into the field, gave him 30 yards and dispatched him. I will always, always remember that episode. There's a few lads on here that can vouch for that dig and if ever there was to be a comedy film made called "Carry On Digging." that should be the script. 5 Quote Link to post

neil cooney 10,416
Good girl her. Regarding the truth will always come out ??? I don't find that funny. I only winced a couple of times, LOL. Regarding bolting foxes going between someones legs ? I once bolted a fox and it ran straight between the legs of one of the best National Hunt jockeys of all time. Wont be naming him, but it's my claim to fame, LOL. Quote Link to post

But that's how us terriermen are and when one of us get bitten the rest of us laugh our socks off . Sorry, . Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
On the subject of nets here's one - Years ago when at the South Devon hunt with a well known terrier man ,they put a fox in a small place on a bank in a wood .Hounds were taken back and the nets on .A small bitch was entered and charlie was out in a rush .Terrier man shot it the net and before I knew it hounds were on their way to break it up.The net was mine and I was damned if hounds were going to rip it up so I held the dead fox high with hounds milling about ,huntsmen red faced lol.One of the hounds got hold of it and myself and 20 couple ended up down the bank .I'd gotten the net tangled over my watch and how I never got bit is something I'll never know suffice to say I was well and truly bloodied with a ripped net and a crowd forming lol. 7 Quote Link to post
