Over the last few night iv been honing by hand the HW85 cylinder by hand with a 20 bore mop with some fine wet and dry stuck to it. It started off looking like this....

Old dieseled oil and light scuff and scrapes. After an evenings gentle honing....

Iv been doing this for an hour each evening looking down into the cylinder with a torch and honing as needed. Tonight it looks like this....

Tonight's progress.....

I have polished the piston. Started with 800 grit and worked all the way down to 2000 grit then polished with brasso!

I put the latch rod into a drill chuck and the drill into a vice with the drill trigger tie wrapped. Spun it fast then gently worked through the glass paper grades then a cloth with brasso on. It is like a mirror!....

I measured before and after polishing it has remained at 25.59mm so no metal removed.

Also polished the latch rod and contact point.

Iv ordered some parts. A tbt spring guide kit with the short stroke part (I wont fit the short stroke straight away that's for later experiments) delrin slip and power washers and some bumslide. You also get a nice tbt tuning sticker.

Also some bits from chambers - new barrel bolt and scope rail screws (I hate damaged screws!) A standard HW spring and I allready have a new spare piston seal. I will look into a vorteck one for the next time I take it apart and maybe try short stroking with the old spring as an experiment.

Next job start on the trigger.

The spring isn't shortned and polished yet I'm waiting for a new blowtorch to be delivered and a i need to do a little bit more polishing of parts.

Also got some 0.3mm delrin sheet on the way and plan on making my own delrin piston sleeve.

I'm not happy with how the piston seal sits on the short stroke so will look at that also and hopefully get a Vortek piston seal I want to make it the best I possibly can.
