Bit of a shitter that mate nothing worse than uncomfortable boots. The hanwag tatra GTX high boot i got a wile back in wide are the best boot i have ever had and were comfortable straight out of the box though i also bought the smaller hanwag tatra wide and they seem slightly narrower on the toe than the higher boot and they are not as comfortable though my trouble is my right foot is slightly deformed due to a bad ankle injury i had years ago. I hope you have better luck with the hanwags.

I've bought the same size footwear in everything for years and never had a problem, just Dunlop safety wellies are a size down. Then one day on a long walk wearing some cheap boots, my toes got hammered, toenails went black etc. So blamed the boots, and bought some Meindl dovre a half size up, best boots I've had, comfortable out the box, ideal. Until I did a long walk and I could feel my toes in the end of them

So bought some Altberg defenders a full size up for longer walks and had no bother, but obviously a cheaper boot. and that's my new size in everything, safety wellies up to my old size. Thought it was your nose and ears that got bigger not your feet lol

Same here i have always been a size 9 in footwear and started getting trouble with work boots and wellingtons always splitting due to being tight around my feet. All my footwear now is size ten. Even a pair of loaks brouges i have in 9 and half that i have hardly worn cripple me now the odd time I have worn them.

Bit strange about the crispi,mine fitted like a glove from the off and very glad I bought them,great boot,but not for some I guess.

The meindle dovre boots an the altberg custom boots I got a long time ago are by far the comfiest boots I ever wore straight off the bat, lowa an haix are comfy after a bit of abuse, last altberg defenders I got tho I stuck some insoles in them that I bought as spares for my bekina work wellies an they are almost slipper like now haha had a couple pair a the redback dealer boots from work as-well for messing about the farm yard an sorting stock out an stuff, an there insoles are even better I reckon, so I’m thinking bout sticking a pair them in my old altbergs and seeing how I get on, but these insoles make the red back boots some the comfiest footwear iv ever worn, did take a few days to break them in tho, if they done walking/hunting boots I reckon I’d try a pair off them

 

iv been told iv done that I many miles my feet have took some stick, arches have collapsed and ankles are arthritic , but I rarely get foot pain, never have, an especially since I cut carbs out I don’t suffer with any pain unless I hurt myself haha 

 

I will add tho I do usually wear decent socks, especially out on moles or out ferreting or lamping or when I’m putting in a few miles, I swear by them merino wool ones, but if I’m out with hounds iv found it’s best to wear some thin socks aswell with them as iv had a few blisters before i added the thin socks. Even tho the boots were always worn in an fine on the flat land

Imho I always took socks for granted and just used to buy cheap work socks off the market to work in and my feet suffered more than they do now as some of them cheap socks with man made fibres you may aswell have socks made out of sandpaper. I now have numerous pairs of bridgedale socks and my feet feel 100pct better especially on a long walk.

Surprising how cheap merino wool socks are on E Bay. I wore a merino wool  base layer on a long walk yesterday (12 miles) . Baselayer was dry but my t shirt above it was soaked. Must be fantastic at wicking away moisture.

Just got some seeland gaiters from lakeland toys and hobbies on Ebay. Got to say really impressed with the quality of them ten times better than the Le chamue gaiters I got some years ago.

Saw these behind the counter in the British heart foundation charity shop in Rotherham and bought a couple of pairs. Decent socks for the price tbh.
