Greyman 28,627
Ok got it just wondering does anyone take one along big game hunting in case you get a shot at small game I carry one with me all the time, it's an opportunist,s weapon, I have one hanging up in my truck, and one in my pocket, I very rarely go out to hunt with a catty but I shoot a lot of stuff when I,m doing other things, if I,m fishing I get lots of opportunities to bag a duck or a pigeon, if I,m out with the dogs I also shoot the odd pigeon or pheasant, they are also the choice of poachers so many won't want to talk to much about what they get upto with there's, but I recon you can get the full picture if you use your imagination,
gamerooster 1,179
Big game huniting is different here to the states, There's no bow hunting here so all shots are took with large calibre rifles, though there's no reason why you couldn't take one with you whilst hunting, though I suggest you look up a benjamin marauder pistol, they're developed with exactly what you have in mind
kyboy44 11
Ok I was wondering because there was a history of them being used some time ago but it was something a young boy would start out with when he was two young to be out alone with a gun
Jonjon79 13,358
Exactly mate, public footpaths are heaving with edible quarry, with the added bonus that they're used to people, roads through estates are also prime spots, all made possible with a catty in the pocketFeck me, that single post really took me back When I was a small kid, I used to go with my grandad to collect in his snares. He never went anywhere without a homemade catty and some homemade shot. He'd never do it in front of nan but, I saw him take pigeon off telegraph wires, lamp posts, all sorts, while we were out walking. They'd all go into a pocket inside his coat. Happy days ..... I keep meaning to get into it.
gamerooster 1,179
Do it mate you won't regret it, the catapults that are made and the elastics used are miles better than back in the day, I'd be lost with my catty

gamerooster 1,179
If you type bill hayes into youtube it'll come up with a load of his videos, and I'm sure links to order one, or if you have a few basic woodworking tools then you can easily make your own
