Same as everything now days mate often the case in life if you want something you work for it and pay the price,,,

If its bred right its often in the right kennel and it will never command the price of lesser dogs.

yeah katchum.lots of good pups been bred over the last 6-12 months.put your hand into your deep pockets.i'm going to buy a couple of pups in the spring/summer and i would happily pay £300 each.

Id happily pay £500 for the right pup,im possibly one of the fortunate,s that have never had to pay for the majority of the best dogs ive owned,if i was not so fortunate would i open the wallet?,without a moments hesitation.Im always suspicious of heavily priced litters,the reason to breed is lost with the majority of such bred.

I think men are talking out of their arse if they try and deny that a bit of £££££ is tempting if you've bred the dog right.

 

If you could get £500 for a dog instead of £250 I know which one I'd choose, the price doesn't change the quality of the animal so you either buy one or you don't.

Most charge max they can simply cos others will pay the asking price, madness what some pedigrees fetch and more so what these new fangled crosses sell at

 

A good lurcher invaluable, pups have a price and some cost brewsters again it's down too the market Ive sold a few pups and gifted a few most important thing imho is the right home, some men can simply make a dog no problem given right pup they should be the main consideration when breeding that sort of punter not one with most cash, I sold a smashing young Bitch last year for decent money I could if got twice as much from another but it would not of find the bitch or line any favours intact just the opposite, money's nice hard too Denise that fact but when it comes too dogs good working settled home in right hands invaluable and main priority imho

 

agree. i have had quite a few dogs over the years, most decent enough, a few not really up to scratch and a couple of really outstanding bitches. i know people who have bred from far worse dogs than these, not even for the money but simply because they wanted to see what they would get! i have never bred a litter in over 30 years of owning running dogs, not because i havent had some first rate animals but to me, i have a duty to ensure that every pup has a good home, and finding the right homes for 8,9,10 pups isnt guaranteed

That's your choice and fair play to ya but I don't begrudge folk who do it differently if they're selling the real deal.

dog only worth how much someone is willing to pay !!! How do you judge one dog is worth £500 one is only worth £150 , what does a guy do with 12 pups he want £500 if no one buys them ??? Do we really want to end up we the whole lab doodle thing mongrels selling for crazy money . Only encourages the puppy peddlers, anyway if I want to pay greyhound prices I will buy one .

My personal opinion is if you have good mates after a pup gift them, hunting lads you don't know you should probably ask -100, only if you have some left put them up for pets and ask a couple of hundred to deter knobs and dog pimps. Some people will pass dogs on for profit if they get them to cheap so you have to watch who you are dealing with, (the pups wellbeing is more important than any money). As for me wanting a pup i would like to think people would be ok with me but it would not bother me having to pay a decent price for quality. Its false economy buying a pup in coz its cheap, you should look for the best pup available and pay what you need to to obtain it, you never know you might get it gifted if the seller thinks you worthy.

Mine will all be going for 50 pound each-I have offered a few f.o.c to a few lads that have had some bad luck already this season. Will only keep 6 on her the rest be pts .I will run 1 or 2 on my self.if I think the persons sound and will do right by it then it will go for nothing.atb dc

I'm thinking of putting my lurcher bitch in pup next year and il gift pups to friends and boys that I know will look after and work them but I will sell the rest, I Dont see the problem in paying the money for the right dog/bitch either though and I would travel the whole country for what I wanted, what's a couple of hundred quid and a day or two out of your life when that chosen pup could bring you years and years of happiness and enjoyment

The bottom line is that of you breed the litter you can ask what you want for them ... if somebody wants to pay that money then they can ... if they don't want to they won't ... it's the same as any other transaction really .......

It's a feckin quandary...

 

Over the years I have charged strangers money for pups , most have then gone on to become good friends,...

 

By the same token,.I've sometimes gifted pups, to guys that I thought were friends..but they weren't

 

I suppose on balance,.all things considered,...I would always prefer to gift, good pups,..to good men.....

I've payed good money for pups and been gifted pups but if they are gifted I allways try to give a gift back bit of dog grub a good knife if the lads got children a couple of quid each for them maybe. It goes along way with good genuine people ??
