beast 1,884
funny isn't it, there are plenty of people who will grumble at anything over £100 for a decent working-bred lurcher pup. but look at other wroking dogs, gundogs are at least £500 a throw, german shepherds and belgians lucky to get less than £600, even farm collies £2-300. i would pay £400 or so for a dog which will give me 5-10 years of loyal service, but luckily i havent had to buy a pup for about 15 years 2 Quote Link to post
bird 9,984
I can't honestly decide what's right,I've given pups away and paid fair money. But a good lurcher is well worth the money paid by some for 'desiger dogs" putting a big price away won't keep know heads away , as plenty have money. But at the same time I'd hate the idea of them being disposable because they are worth pennies yeh there fetching £ 600-900 quid lab x poodle and cockerx poodle,, and being honest they look nice friendly pet type dogs, i see few on my dog walks the ones ive seen have been with family+ kids, my dogs will play with them. one couple with kids nice people got a cocker x poo , Buck will lay down and let the little dog jump all over him lol. But the thing i think feckin wrong is the price for them above, so suppose if you got to pay £ 120-150 quid for a lurcher bred for work/ pet its chicken feed really . i say to this people that my dogs are the same like there x breeds, Bryn was £ 40 and Buck was £ 40 quid , and plenty of lurchers and mongrels in the pound for £ 50 quid, that need a chance of life , as most are put down, and ive told them lurchers make great pets geat temps, healthy and cheap when compared to ped + designer dogs , they love Buck lol think his temp is brill ,but to big as a pet which is fair enough , he is a big bugger lol. And doesn't matter if they come from a kennel or bred in a family home, years ago there was woman lived near me had a toy poodle, one of the most growling Nasty little feckers you could meet, the Sort of dog you get the urge to give it a boot up the arse when owners not looking. 1 Quote Link to post

But these one ive met cockerx poodle and lab x poodle were ferindly with dogs and people, but there were young dogs 12 months old , maybe the change temp as they get older, but your right pure poodles deff standards what ive seen were sharp temps with people/.dogs Quote Link to post

Neal 1,873
I was speaking to a lady with two French Bulldogs recently and she said that, what most people don't realize, is that the folds etc on the outside of the muzzle are mirrored on the inside. As a result she recently forked out over 4K for, what basically amounts to, life-saving plastic surgery! Quote Link to post
stevo79 569
Who cares really if you don't want to pay the prices nobody's got your arm twisted up your back forcing you to buy them. £400 £500 for a dog your going work and keep as your best pal seems pretty cheap to me. I've read plenty of threads on here where plenty of lads sell pups for good prices and even gifted. 2 Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
Most charge max they can simply cos others will pay the asking price, madness what some pedigrees fetch and more so what these new fangled crosses sell at ?? A good lurcher invaluable, pups have a price and some cost brewsters again it's down too the market Ive sold a few pups and gifted a few most important thing imho is the right home, some men can simply make a dog no problem given right pup they should be the main consideration when breeding that sort of punter not one with most cash, I sold a smashing young Bitch last year for decent money I could if got twice as much from another but it would not of find the bitch or line any favours intact just the opposite, money's nice hard too Denise that fact but when it comes too dogs good working settled home in right hands invaluable and main priority imho 1 Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
But for a mong related that might not even be any good its a big price to pay, match dogs and the like I can understand as there's big money in it, but a crossbred cur that's expected to pick the odd rabbit up!!! If you wanna make money go and work for it, don't get it by breeding your dogs 1 Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Only a good eye will sort you a good dog, the amount of money you pay is irrelevant. Quote Link to post
