meg1 55
I'm starting to wish I would have been more patient and wait for Tony from sfs to do the tune up for me now, I had my first day out with it today and started to to notice something was off after half an hour,so I sat down and put some shots in a fence post I couldn't get a tighter group than 3 inches so I went home to see if I could sort things out with no joy it's shooting all over sometimes 2in out, I don't understand why I polished all internals decreased very lightly lubed and put back together textbook, it was a very simple job I don't know where I have gone wrong, there's no dieseling before the tune up I was hitting pellets at 25 metres no problem, I've been told to try a different pellet as sometimes they don't like the same pellet after a tune and clean the barrel, should of sent it off I was to impatient looks like I'm going to have to now, has anyone experienced the same thing any advice would be appreciated. mC HULL 13,670
What rifle is it meg could need bedding spring may be in wrong way to before have you more recoil fit any new parts 1 Quote Link to post
meg1 55
Hello MC Hull, it's a HW 97 kt new one, I just put the sfs kit in, which comprises of a spring guide, spring with a knock in top hat that doesn't come out so only can go in one way, and I put in 1 power washer Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
Hi Meg. Don't give it up on it mate. I stripped my TX over 20 times before I got it how I wanted it. Have you had it over a chrono yet? How tight is the piston washer in the piston? Did you check that all parts move freely together before reassembly? Atb 1 Quote Link to post

bigmac 97kt 13,813
May sound stupid but how many pellets have gone through the barrel since you cleaned it as some need a good few put through them before you start to get good groups atvbmac  Quote Link to post
meg1 55
Hi Jonjon, yes it's knocking out 11.5 all parts are moving really nice including piston and seal, I'm hoping I haven't polished the piston and bore out to much and the pistons bottoming out, but it seems a good tight Fit Quote Link to post
mC HULL 13,670
I don't really touch my barrels cleaning wise you want a washer on piston end for tophat to slip on Should be smooth once kits in noticeable difference from before regarding recoil May just need bedding in if you have a chronograph best to check there's not a massive spread atb 1 Quote Link to post
meg1 55
Hi Mac, this gun was brand new out the box before I tuned it I put a good few pellets through the gun before I started to get good groups and then it was shooting bang on it's only since I tuned it it's been shooting like this I have put about 150 pellets through it today but it's still not sorted itself out 1 Quote Link to post
mC HULL 13,670
Is there any noticeable difference in recoil since you put kit in the bore wants honing not polishing similar to a car bore it should have come like it with a crosshatched pattern inside piston wants polishing atb 1 Quote Link to post
meg1 55
I've polished the bore as well do you think that's were I've gone wrong Quote Link to post
meg1 55
The recoil is considerably better and there is no twang Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,813
Is it dieseling when fired some times it just comes down to ,,to much grease on the spring or to little have you lightened the trigger on her so your not pulling the rifle when fired this can be achieved by a quarter of a turn to the left on the screw next to the trigger at a time this will lighten the trigger right up but only a quarter of a turn at a time if you have polished her all up right she should have next to no recoil what so ever and the cocking action should be smooth with no noise from it when cocked atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post
mC HULL 13,670
I don't no mate never done it is it polished to a mirror finish but if there was out wrong in the bore I'd think you would get a funny spread of power on the chronograph It might just need bedding in Getting used to you aren't resting it on anything to shoot are you If power is consistent I can't see why it would shoot all over if conditions were your shooting are good atb 1 Quote Link to post
meg1 55
I was shooting pellet on pellet before the tune up the trigger set just right and I polished everything up to a mirror finish, I'll give it a chance to bed in if it's still the same I'll send it to Tony at sfs, I appreciate your help lad's thank you Quote Link to post
