I think I've read twice now that you can't train wolves.....I take it you mean a fully grown one because a pup would be quite easy I'd imagine.

To what level mate You can train a bird to come to a signal for food but all your really doing is getting it to release its fear the intellence is already there,

The real question is how far can you push it before it's natural fear based instincts kick in for both bird and wolf , social to man is not underlining its behavior , unlike a dog who is born with an infinity for humans

Some folk are so quick to happily hand over their rights and freedom on the back of a bit of tabloid outrage, it's honestly worrying.

heres some of mine years back,2 of the 3 were in the house regularly, all were busy through their lives, never had an incident with any folk with them...Placid and knew where they stood in the family ..

Poor kid. However its achieved there needs to be some control over these type of dog. Too many young children are losing their lives needlessly,   Ive read the comments about its the owners fault a

Is any animal born with fear installed? Is that not taught by the parent over a short period after birth?

I actually agree with what you are saying mate...I enjoy your posts. Always very informative.

I just felt reading this thread that dogs are not a pack animal because they are trainable yet the wolf is a pack animal because it cannot be trained.....this is where i beg to differ cause clearly a wolf can be trained.

If I've picked it up wrong then oops...wouldn't be the first time..?

Both being pack animals dogs and wolves are readly trainable the only difference is one survives on instinct and the other survives on social , social is the opposite to fear when we decrease one we grow the other

I'm not talking about pack instinct here, the reason why I'm saying that is because a dog is social by birth He is social by nature , not by instinct, social underlines everything he does, the dog is attracted to goddam everything , what he will go and investigate as a pup would turn a wolf cub not a quivering mess , the reason being the first point of call to a wolf is instinctive , it's the biggest difference

Once the wolf lost its fear it became the dog, have a look at the Russian fox experiment on YouTube once the fox stopped fearing the humans it started evolving into a dog like creature
