Rabid 1,936
I've seen more hornets this year than I have wasps, don't like either so if I do see one I will chance getting stung to eradicate it.

Blackbriar 8,569
Just seen 2 massive hornets in the barn. Only 2 though and never seen any here before, so i assume they are visitors rather than having a nest near. Will they die soon, can I spray them with wasp spray or should I just avoid the barn? I'm beginning to think that maybe you're not cut out for the rural life, mate !
stealthy1 3,964
Beware if they are true Hornets, because they can be bad tempered b****rds, and don't give up until they've got you. Only if you disturb their nests. Funny to watch though.

walshie 2,804
Was it a hornet? Or a queen wasp looking for somewhere to spend the winter? If it was a queen wasp there were 2 of them, and i thought they wintered in the nest already made this year. Why would asking a question about hornets mean i'm not cut out for country life? I'm loving every minute. Man still needs to learn though.

Lab 10,979
Bloody bunch of jokers on here. Hornets have no sting and can be caught in between both hands. Once caught a gentle shake ensures the Hornet will remain calm until you can release it outside. Cheers...??

If you detect that the little blighter is still distressed try humming a happy tune like "La cucaracha"

Phil Lloyd 10,738
Done 32 Hornet's nests this year,...I always regret killing these superb predatory insects,...but,..there ya go,.... As a rule,..Hornets are fairly docile,...but when they twig on and decide to attack,...it can get, emotional...
