Elliott 436
Can't go wrong with a CZ Edited October 11, 2016 by Elliott Quote Link to post
ianm 2,594
I have a cz which i purchased after trying someones savage. There are only three manufacturers cz, savage and ruger and out of the three i think cz are the best build quality. I had mine shortened to 20.5" and still get 3600fps with factory ammo, more with homeloads. Quote Link to post

Migmac 1
I got to handle a savage 17 hornet a couple of months back. Found the action strange, put me right off. Didn't even fire it. Still looking for a 17 hornet in the near future, it will be a CZ. Quote Link to post
airbourne 128
I have been ringing some firearms dealers after a cz 17 hornet american thumb hole they are like rocking horse sh*t, been told end of November, one dealer said i would be better getting a 223 as they have trouble getting the ammo for the hornet.??? I found a varmint laminated thumb hole for £695, Savage model 25 synthetic for £675, i believe the american weight is lighter than the varmint can anybody tell me the difference between the 2 and the weight of the savage models any info would be good. Don't fancy carrying more weight than i have to not a big chap and not getting any younger lol cheers Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Varmints are heavier than Americans. It's the thickness of the barrel. Savages and Rugers are heavier than CZs. Don't know the weights unfortunately. Quote Link to post
ianm 2,594
Isn't the savage a shrouded barrel? Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Isn't the savage a shrouded barrel? The one I looked at (Model 25) wasn't, but it was ugly as hell. Quote Link to post

I can almost guarantee the next delivery won't be in 6 weeks. There's a couple of new 17 hornets on guntrader though. Quote Link to post

Don't go for second best. Hold on for the exact model you're looking for. I had to wait 6 months for my 22 hornet. Well worth the every second of the wait. Quote Link to post
