what is in your opinion the best 17 hornet or should i say efficient cz etc , what barrel length ? all information would be good, will be in the market for one soon

I have a cz which i purchased after trying someones savage. There are only three manufacturers cz, savage and ruger and out of the three i think cz are the best build quality. I had mine shortened to 20.5" and still get 3600fps with factory ammo, more with homeloads.

I got to handle a savage 17 hornet a couple of months back. Found the action strange, put me right off. Didn't even fire it. Still looking for a 17 hornet in the near future, it will be a CZ.

I have been ringing some firearms dealers after a cz 17 hornet american thumb hole they are like rocking horse sh*t, been told end of November, one dealer said i would be better getting a 223 as they have trouble getting the ammo for the hornet.???

I found a varmint laminated thumb hole for £695, Savage model 25 synthetic for £675, i believe the american weight is lighter than the varmint can anybody tell me the difference between the 2 and the weight of the savage models any info would be good.

Don't fancy carrying more weight than i have to not a big chap and not getting any younger lol

Varmints are heavier than Americans. It's the thickness of the barrel.

 

Savages and Rugers are heavier than CZs. Don't know the weights unfortunately.

went out today to buy the thumb hole, but just my luck been sold earlier over the phone, will just have to wait another 6 weeks for the next delivery unless somebody can point me in the right direction where they have them in stock.

I blame the EU.

 

Don't go for second best. Hold on for the exact model you're looking for. I had to wait 6 months for my 22 hornet. Well worth the every second of the wait.
