walshie 2,804
We have a couple of beef farmers near us. One of them has a footpath that goes across one of his fields that we cross fairly often when we're out walking the dogs. I'm not a fan of cattle, but these seem pretty placid. Mostly they just look at us, and sometimes they follow us but keep their distance. 'Er indoors took the dogs for a walk before dark this evening and as soon as she got a short distance into the field they all charged towards her. Even the dogs dived for cover. Luckily they all managed to get out of the field before the cattle got to the gate. She's not normally bothered by stuff like that but she's quite shaken up by it. Could it have been the time of the evening that caused this? Something she may have done differently to the other times she's been through? Or are beef cattle unpredictable b*****ds? delswal 3,819
Dogs and cattle don't mix, especially if there is a calf in there amongst them
JDHUNTING 1,817
There's something in the air at the minute then took the kids to a safari park and got mock charged by a rhino! All the animals were getting there leg over though so maybe it's just that time of year for a lot of species
Haiddheliwr 1,911
Really the wrong time of the year for calves but possible. As said unpredictable buggers, so glad your missus and dogs are ok!

Country Joe 1,411
I remember a field with Cows could walk through in daylight hunting a Rabbit, they were inquisitive but they never bothered me, first night I lamped the field they all charged and one hit me on the shoulder felling me to the ground, luckily I was okay, but they are always worth a watching.

I have some permission like that now. The cattle running up and down the length of the wall kicking the back legs in the air.. Mr wilks and myself netted it 9/10 days ago not realising they were the field..
