You make it look easy but as i know its not lol I only do it to help some of the lads out and i only started to do my own stocks as i could not afford to pay some one to do it as iv say,d before mine may not be up to your stander,d but iv had no complaints lol Any way thanks for the tips and a soon as me and Si sort another rifle for Davyt63 and Si ill be in touch if your still up for it atvbmac  Quote Link to post
nath92 84
Thanks mac much appretiated , the clingfilm part was in response i seen someone a fair while ago saying leave it between 24-48 hours wrapped up , with that kind of time frame there is allsorts that can go wrong as im sure you know , the same chap also advised some one to leave their stock fully submerged in a barrel of caustic soda solution for 12-24 hour again massive risk just shudder to think ,, and yes yes please im still massivley up to do a restoration colaboration for charity would be brilliant , As for as the stripper its paramorse industrial , damn good strong stuff removes most things Atb Nath Quote Link to post

bigmac 97kt 13,812
Well Nath i totally enjoyed that mate picked up some more tips and i thank you for that bud On the laquer part it dose give you more choice on what you can do than oil and is a lot easier than oil to apply looking forward to the home kit vid mind ie nitro morse and some of the oils and how you do it as to me and to see what tips i can pick up off that vid im not a pro like you but i get there in the end lol and i use oil as most of the stocks iv done for the lads they have ask,d me to use oil most of the stocks iv took right back bare wood is becouse iv not liked the way its turned out and iv had to take it right back lol some like Simons hw80 i was asked to keep some of the old pertina in it and some of the scratches as that was what he asked me to do now its not easy to do this its light sanding on some parts and even lighter on the old pertina parts 20+yrs of where and tear and then the gold flecks in his stock i found when i was sanding back there were more there than there was originally and some nice gold swirls witch i fetched out for him and he wanted it done in oil So i went with the true oil and the walnut stain on a beech stock it worked a treat and was one of the best stocks i had done But the oil is a pain to apply and smoothing it out is harder than it looks lol so im looking forward to seeing how you do it and to pick up some tips to make it easier if there is an easier way lol here are a few pics of her from this atvbjimmy  Quote Link to post
