tomburras 2,730
I been there too mac with fishing too. You work a lot of hours and on your time off you want to relax. Iv had them phone calls too they are enough to put you off going as been under pressure is like been at work again. I took a step back on the equipment I use and travel ultra light now when I want to go. For example ditching the fishing bivvy and Carp tackle and now I use a pop up tent with blow up bed and telescopic rods with bite alarms on banks sticks. I'm set up or packed up in 10 mins and makes it a lot more pleasurable. I ditched the pcp with big scopes with 7 litre dive bottle for a little springer with compact scope and a pocket full of pellets. Ferreting wise I take 4 ferrets, a jacket pocket of nets and an old black powder shotgun with a pocket full of cartridges. Traveling light and enjoying myself instead of tying to play the numbers game, it used to do my head in and think about giving up. After doing this iv never enjoyed my sports so much! - for example just now just off for a wander with my fly rod and a small box if flies! And a bottle of wine lol. Don't give up you will soon be dying to get back out! 3 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,563
Hi Mac, I`ve just got the news that the old FWB Sport 127 mk1 is mine come Tuesday 11am. Is there something in the air lads ? I have gone back to my youth buying the mk1 and all the fond memories of shooting this particular rifle for close on 40 consecutive years. There`s a lot of truth in that PCP`s are clinical, too clinical and not as enjoyable to shoot. Field craft will click in big style again when hunting with the FWB Sport mk1, - how enjoyable and testing this will be again. atb 4 Quote Link to post

Durham John 693
More to your point of too much demand on you because of the sheer volume of perms, perhaps, loaning the perms to someone you can trust, that way you have the ability to shoot as and when you want rather than being on call all the time. Phil Dont think Id loan someone a permission, unless they were very well known to you, but I could see taking someone or a couple people along with you ( as youve done in the past) could poss work for you, farmer gets to see things being delt with ie shot and stops phoning so often you get to teach share your knowledge with others so getting enjoyment from that without pressure to do a job. how ever you go forward mate I hope you still keep posting on here or it'll be a sadder place without you. ps seen as you sold the hw100 does that meen youre only a semi Tw*t now ? regards DJ Quote Link to post
