Guest Magwitch
I woke up this morning after a late night out with the rimfire and hoped it was raining hard as to give me the excuse to roll over and catch some more zzz's instead of going ferreting, but alas it wasn't to be, it was mild and only a slight hint of rain so i rose from my pit off to the orchard i went. i did two open sets in the orchard with the longnet and today i took a couple of the smaller ferrets from my stable a albino hob and silver Jill as i was ferreting alone and i didn't fancy too much digging i left "Driller" at home, out of the two sets they managed to bolt seven nice plump rabbits and a eighth slipping the net. So i moved on to a narrow hedgerow nearby and by now the wind was getting stronger and stronger and the rain was getting wetter and wetter, anyway in with the two ferrets and expecting a dig or three due to the increasing wind and rain i stood there now soaked to my undercracker's with the wind howling around me, then one after the other the rabbits started to bolt six in total. despite the weather and being soaked i still enjoyed the morning and felt that the small stinker's had done a cracking job Quote Link to post

mooster 1
Just goes to show there are no hard and fast rules.I never ferret in the wind and rain as i've always believed rabbits are reluctant to bolt. There's something magical about returning home in the wind and rain with something for the pot in your bag. Do you find they do cut down kills and having to dig? Wouldnt mind one or two of them in my stock, look quite handy Quote Link to post
