can someone help me my patt bitch is is 8months old just wondering if this is to young to start on rats she seems keen as she has caught a grey tree rat before but dont no if fluke so would the rest of you terrier men let her at that age or not.

At the end of the shooting season I've always took my pups ratting at around 6 months & never had any problems. Puts them in good stead for their proper job the following season. Give the pup a try, if it's not keen leave it for a month or two then give it another go :)

If she's keen don't hold her back mate let her go, my beddy started at 7 months, try catching a rat in a cage, take in the middle of a field let her have a look then let it out see what happens. My beddy went crazy at his first caged rat, killed it straight away.

All the best Nealey
