reddog70 236
do we all owe it to the planet to slow down on the human growth rate? be interesting to here your views.. as hunters we all see the need to keep pest species in check for obvious reasons so should we also apply this to our selves and slow down our own growth rate ie have fewer kids? https://www.populationmatters.org/attenborough-talk/ Edited September 22, 2016 by reddog70
kanny 20,494
To me its a obvious yes. ....no species benifits from over population us included .there has to be a tipping point when growth outstrips resources and i believe we are getting close if we cross that point then there's going to be a world of suffering for billions so we don't just owe it to the planet we owe it to ourselves. smithie 2,443
Some would refuse to have only 1 child even to slow the world's population. We will have more wars more floods, earth quakes, terrorist attacks and eventually use all the oil. This island already has more people on it than the acreage could supply for..

Silversnake 1,099
If everyone changed their ways to a more clean and natural existence we could have a lot bigger population, but pollution alone dictates that we will have to curb our population growth let alone all the other countless issues.

Francie 6,368
Plenty of space to go around ffs Some like to assert that everybody on Earth could be fit into the State of Texas, using logic as follows. The area of Texas is about 262,000 mi2. Dividing this figure by the current human population of 7 billion leaves each person with less than 100 square meters, a small plot the size of a big room about 10 m x 10 m. zx12edge 1,001
As are Russ said Voluntary euthanasia at 60 compulsory at 65 would thin us out a bit lol
walshie 2,804
There are races who are trying to take over whole countries by outbreeding the residents. Then there are the Jeremy Kyle guests who think having another kid is like getting a promotion at work. Then there are the races who know no better, and even though they are starving, can still manage to knock another kid or 2 out. Apart from the number of people, think of the gene pool. In time we will all be brown and stupid as f**k - and starving.

WILF 46,646
Chinese people who have actually contributed something to the world have a one child policy Africa gets sent food to keep their overpopulation alive........contributed absolutely zero to the world Northern Europeans can't afford to have kids in any great number (although I must admit I'm doing my bit to put that right ! Lol )..........but the influx are supported by the working and breeding the indigenous Europeans out of existence. Someone's getting the sums wrong somewhere..........or maybe it's quiet intentional ? Edited September 23, 2016 by WILF
Malt 379
I don't think the population needs controlling, just think we need to stop the relatively few greedy fuckers accumulating the world's wealth and spend it on managing resources properly. We have the technology to grow crops on the sea or in the desert. First step is addressing our energy needs. Significant resources should be piled into fusion for a start, then the power of the tides should be harnessed on a massive scale.
walshie 2,804
I agree we could manage resources better and maybe one day we'll be able to extract energy out of the air, but if the world's full up, it's full up.
DogFox123 1,379
Yep, we should all be put to sleep at 70. Lower the retirement age and get more young in work, we have nothing to give past 60 anyway.... Edited September 23, 2016 by DogFox123
