thefensarefarbutistillgo 2,481
Depends if it's a good saluki it will run any hare into the ground, a poor one will get out stayed, just because there pure Salukis doesn't mean they all have the same stamina 1 Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
If a saluki only brought huge amounts of stamina to the table, it would be a shit saluki. Quote Link to post

General lee 979
If it was down to pure stamina I'd pick the hare Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
There is no answer too that question, every hare is an individual and every dog is an individual, every run is different, be it ground conditions weather, whatever, when the hare gets up you know nothing about it until its dead , could be green as grass, could be a highly skilled veteran, dog could be feeling off color or suffering a strain that worsens over the day, its simply about testing the dogs ability too course and catch the hare, good hare? good dog? shit hare? shit dog?, everyone sees the course differently as well, some see it one way some another,, one thing I do know is that if all hares where given proper fair law , then more than likely, a lot less would die, regardless wether it was a pure saluki, beddy whippet, or a saluki lurcher doing the chasing, the bests the best be it lurcher saluki whippet or hare simple as that 5 Quote Link to post
green lurchers 16,530
all hares should be given fair law if not whats the point in it Edited January 5, 2017 by green lurchers 1 Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
all hares should be given fair law if not whats the point in it goes full circle to are we coursing the hare or setting out too kill him, its blurred more cause of the law changes, but the old coursing clubs weren't as kill driven as the modern couser, but there was rules so each dog was tested properly and fairly, not just chucked on whatever gets up, likesay a real good hare will evade all but the very best dogs even when he kicked up, lesser dogs he will simply leave for dead, off a massive slip even the best dogs will have to be on his game to catch the best hares, if they where that easy too catch it would not be worth doing, but plenty spend enough time money effort risk in trying too Edited January 5, 2017 by arcticgun 3 Quote Link to post

DogFox123 1,379
I think it would be a good idea if slips were measured. I know an experienced slipper should get it just about right but I bet there's been cases of dogs losing a comp due to having a longer slip. Quote Link to post

I've seen plenty of Saluki type dogs on YouTube, some dogs do seem to run the Hare to a standstill whereas some Hares end up leaving the dog. It's a difficult one to answer I know....
