Sunday At The Mecca

got up at the crack of dawn yesterday with good days hunting in mind!

so i got to the dairy farm about 6.30 got to admit that of lately i favour shooting birds rather than rabbits..

i enjoy raking about in the woods... so first thing was to knock off a few ferrels around the farm, I've got on top of the best places and removed a fair few!

after an hour or so i decided to have a good recy as I've just got to grips with the boundaries!!

its bloody massive and theres over a thousand acres set aside for the haylage not including the maize or corn

at about 8 my mate turned up so we had an hour or so in a wood knocking off the crows before we did a bit of building work in the new stables for the owner, were doing it as a freebee cos this perms ace and the owners sound :victory:

so we got finished for dinner time and went to have a mooch round a wood we've not been in before, me mate was starving so he buggered off after about ten mins.... but i stayed and walked the length of it, i couldn't get on the woodys the trees are massive and still thick with leaves but the squirrels were a different matter, clattering about and ranting made for a bit of good sport!

these woods are all pheasant breeding grounds for big shoots so theres no shortage of treerat's!

this was the result of a half hour walk.. some may not agree with the quarry but there are loads and i mean loads!!

this is the first time I've ever taken these but unless there weren't so many id of never shot them!!

i only intended to take one but it was strange cos i took it out with a head shot, it dropped then started moving off so i finished it with a quick follow up shot

when i went and retrieved it i noticed the other one, the smaller one must of been behind it and coped for a through shot!!

both are for the pot one being this

Nice shooting Si, Sounds like a good day

Is it just the way the picture has been taken or, are those Hares massive?

Also, are you not using the Wolf much anymore?

cheers jon

yeah they are massive, the slightly smaller one was hidden by the other!

i had to gut them there n then cos they filled me bag and weighed a ton!

yeah still out with the wolf a lot , not been posting stuff though cos its just rats n ferrels most of the time!!

still running fine and not blown up yet :victory:

i can't bring myself to drill studs in the wolf and its a bloody big perm for carting it about all day, if i had the patience to sit holed up i recon me and me mate could pull of a bag worthy of ftm!!

looked in a field that i haven't been to before and there must of been 50+ rabbits its rife with the little fcukers!
