straight2hand 303
There are good reasons why the lurcher was created as apposed to pure sight hounds being used on the lamp, you would be better off with a pure whippet imo 1 Quote Link to post

If ye do post pics of them below I ran a greyhound bitch last season, opened my eyes to a lot of things. IMO they are underestimated and add a lot more to lurcher breeding than people them credit for. 7 Quote Link to post

Wild-Bill 500
Nice birch fields port is that the bitch you bred from? I always like the 3/4 crosses and what they are about. But they wouldn't last to long near me to many bad fences gates ditches. Lost a 1/4 bull bitch and 1/4 wheaten dog in the same season, although I have always fancied a pure greyhound for work. My mates have had them few years back for the intention of breeding but they never lasted more than a seasons work. Quote Link to post

Fieldsporthunter 1,864
has anyone ever heard of greyhounds lamping foxes ? Pre ban I heard they not bad, heard of a bitch that did OK lamping as well as a little terrier work. Was told she was better daytime. Was only used for just over a season though. Quote Link to post

Some of the ground round here the same. On some ground I run on, in places, you might only get 100yrds or 2\3 bends before stuff hits cover again, need a doer not a thinker to catch. straight2hand 303
has anyone ever heard of greyhounds lamping foxes ? P Not on the lamp but my pups grandfather a F1 lurcher was bred out of a greyhound that killed a fox that another dog knocked up, greyhounds are incredibly powerful and driven animals they are no softies. 1 Quote Link to post

I would only use a greyhound for a base in lurchers and all lurchers owe an incredible amount to the grey, trouble is they are not the most responsive of dogs and are so driven will do themselves in but f**k me those things can move they really are an athlete 1 Quote Link to post
