Gaz_1989 9,539
Had the busher out with the bike this morning. She's been with me a week now so her fitness is coming along but didn't know how she would fair out with the bike. She really surprised me and was in front the whole way. We only did 6 mile but at the end the lurchers were slowing and she was off in front with no signs of slowing up what so ever... Red bitch found somewhere to make a mess. As always... Busher joined in... 8 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
Bushers bushing and running dogs keeping up with them will keep any dogs fit best form of exercise No doubt but I like to mix it up. I find it helps there feet too trotting on Tarmac now and again instead of constantly on fields ? 2 Quote Link to post

bird 9,969
nice route there for the dogs and your self, i did 13 mile on my bike to day , there's a lot of hills by me and fair amount of traffic, i try to do a min of 10 mile a day for 5 days , just to keep fit it all helps at my age lol . i dont take the dog no more with bike , it can get bit iffy with cars by me . and being honest i prefer to be on my own no dogs , dogs get plenty of walks in fields and do bit on the road walking as well . 1 Quote Link to post
krawnden 1,036
I'm a big fan of roadwork on the bike for fitness - great for their feet and stamina. You're lucky to have somewhere quiet like that to be able to do it Gaz - nothing like that round my way. I have to do it all on country lanes. To try and miss the traffic I need to try and be back home and all finished by 7 - 7.15am Quote Link to post

It's good for man and dog. Not trying to beat anything ? A boxer doesn't just spend his life punching bags and sparring. He will be seen skipping, circuit training, road running. Same for most athletes. Many cyclists will be seen in the gym working their legs and doing high intensity circuits. Not just out cycling. I don't see why dogs should be any different. Bushing, ferreting, lamping, bike work, swimming, retrieve work with a ball. You're right though. Every man definitely sees things different on here ? 5 Quote Link to post
FKOF 371
Bushers keep themselves fit, as above (squirel). The only reason I could see needing to get one fit is if they ain't out much. Otherwise with spaniel or beagle blood they should have natural stamina. I've taken mine on one or two bike rides in the past but not for fitness purposes ? Edited September 20, 2016 by FKOF Quote Link to post
