MAG1980 116
Quote I pulled three kgs off of one tree last year and there was probably another three still there when I was finished. Thats the worst thing to do is over pick them. if every year they get hammered they slowly reduce the amount of berries they produce every season. seen it plenty around where i live, trees just barren or just a pathetic odd few on their branches. . So at the end of your quote were it says there was another three kilos left, I would,nt really consider taking less than 50 percent as over picking them would you,? I have been living in harmony with my environment for many years and have always been aware of leaving enough for next year be it mushrooms rabbits or berry,s so stop being so sillyTo be honest i was knacked from graft when i read it correctly so fair play for being on the defensive.after re-reading your reply i dont doubt you only take what you need. but Im far from being silly! It just anoys me when a see people hamering the same places year in year out and and not giving teo f@#$ about any-one else. Its just a pity there arnt more clued up people like us is all. Greyman 28,623
Just been for a mooch out with the dogs around my usual sloe picking patch, and must say this don't look like it's going to be a good year, the hawthorns are weighed down with there little red berrys, but the blackthorns look rather bold I even spoke to a few pickers as I passed and they all said it's the worst year they have seen in ages, seems to be a good mushroom year because they are everywhere, also found a baby buzzard, that had been eaten by a fox, real shame as it was only a day or so from leaving but hay that's nature

Greyman 28,623
One of those big round things they grow on the floor and look like a ball, generally white, as kids we used to run up and kick em flying and they let out a big cloud, hence the name, they are a lot rarer now but one good size one will feed your family, you slice it like a loaf of bread then cube it, put some pasta on first, fry in butter with garlic, pour on a tin of toms and serve on the pasta, sorry but know tripping,
