What do you want from the pups? Quarry? Ground? What does the bitch do well and not so well? Rhetorical questions. 1 Quote Link to post
jeemes 4,484
just asking for ideas what cross to put over a whippet greyhound bitch she is 25 in tall for ferreting and lamping Its not the stud but the pups you have to try to imagine. Mammals are not meccano sets that you can just make up. If you are happy with your bitch why are you not thinking of breeding her to another of the same type? If she lacks what you want I would just get another dog. If you really need to go on a forum to ask what type of dog you should use as stud then I suggest you dont bother breeding. Ask yourself why you want to breed a litter of pups in the first place. 3 Quote Link to post

'sully' 1,119
I'd put a wheaton grey to her , I find with the whip greys the only downfall is bone, a Wheaton will put some good bone into the pups Quote Link to post
green dragon 701
Saluki bull grey or collie bull grey. Im only saying that because there my type of dog lol but i think both xs are good alrounders but that just my opion Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
He said for ferreting nd lamping. I'd probably try find a collie whippet grey, should keep size down and add abit of coat and ruggedness Quote Link to post
shaaark 10,858
Put a 1st x border collie/whippet to her, If you're that set about having a litter from her. She's already 25" tts so adding anything with more greyhound in will, in theory, possibly give you taller dogs than what you want. Quote Link to post
jake824 517
just asking for ideas what cross to put over a whippet greyhound bitch she is 25 in tall for ferreting and lamping1st question I d ask my self is do I have enough work for another dog. Then is the bitch honestly good enough to breed off. If you know of better bitches then wait and get a pup from one of those it's far less hassle. How old is the bitch , reason I ask is if she s made 6 plus without much injury then I d use a similar dog over her. If she s injury prone because of her speed and feet then put something terrier or collie blooded dog over her. Or as I said buy a pup in its less stressful. Quote Link to post
