Was in Brians yard around 91-92 and he had both smooth and broken coated terriers in kennells,also seen him over here with a van load of both.

Chocolate is a mutation of the black gene so I've read edited to say all 3 in that photo have zulu in their peds the guy that owns them used to come on here I kno2 he won't mind me posting his dogs just to show their broken coat

Choc does come black in any case most of the nuttall's stuff can be traced to rusty and kipper who's dam was a choc

Well I thought black was the dominant gene. And when black is involved only black surfaces? I know of 2 litters when first the dog was black and bitch was choc and it produced 7 black pups. Second time the dog was choc and the bitch was black and 5 black pups were the result. But I suppose honesty is what matters the most regardless of colour.
