walshie 2,804
I know Flipper_Al has helped people out on here with their computer woes many times, and he's done it again. My wife's laptop was being a pig and freezing as soon as it booted up. I sent Al a pm asking if he had any suggestions, I bet he wished I hadn't. He logged on remotely and his technical opinion on the problem varied from "This fooker is putting up a right fight." to "Interesting from a technical point of view" to "Pain in the arse." He didn't give up though, and over the course of a couple of days in his spare time and many, many reboots, Al finally managed to beat it into submission. I was ready to bin it, but now it's running like it did when it was brand new. Cool-headed professional guy to deal with and a first class service. Top man Al, and thanks! sussex 5,802
I had Ali Al ring me today , all the way from India to tell me my computer was playing up , what a top man , he explained it's been really slow and not doing all it should . When I asked how much it would cost for him to fix it with his long range screwdriver he surprised me by saying it was free ...he then explained ( in very broken English ) that he would , after I had given him one or two bits of vital information , fix it ...for a small fee ( £120) ..I managed to keep Ali talking for close on 20 minutes after getting him to repeat everything three times ...we had a conversation about how in the last three weeks it had been really slow and he tried to explain what the problem was , then my wife shouted dinner was ready so I had to tell Ali I've been in Spain for three weeks , the computer was switched off and he could F off ... There's only one Al and he clearly ain't in India ..

Flipper_Al 1,012
Good question... hardware has a lifespan, as software adds more functionality, it takes more processor power and memory to run it, ie 3 years ago with Windows 7 Pro and 4GB of ram, Pc's ran well, the Pc's now with Windows 10 that i supply have top end i5/Amd 8 core processors and a min of 8GB of RAM, and 128GB solid state hard drives. Walshie's laptop was a well specced machine with 6gb of ram
