Best Place To Tune/service Hw100 ?

Recommended Posts

Hi, who is the best person to look at my hw100kt, I didn't use it for a week and now it's all over the place.

I did get a new batch of pellets (falcon accuracy plus) and it did take a very small bump when it fell over into long grass, other than that nothing different from before.

I have cleaned the barrel just in case, almost 300 pellets later = no change

I swapped the scope for one I know was pin point accurate and consistent = no change

I have removed the silencer and tried that = no change

Hopefully this afternoon I will set the chrono up and check it, either something has changed inside, or these pellets have gone from 5p groups at 50 yards to inch and a half at 25 yards !

In fact the Mrs ultra has just outshot it 9 out of 9 times ! Not impressed.

All the obvious things, silencer, scope, barrel support, barrel cleaned, magazine, pellets and breech seal all seem fine, it doesn't seem to be loosing air, or at least not a noticeable amount if any, I have filled it up tonight and marked the gauge, I will keep an eye on that, from a gun that was so accurate it's now not worth using.

I know pellets change from batch to batch, but I can't even get any reasonable results with the rwssuperdomes that it previously liked either, would love to put it down to pellets, but I don't think so.

Must be a tuner out there that knows these hw's and can strip, service and tune them, I want my old accurate rifle back.

See what chrono results show first, tired/dirty Belleville washers in reg maybe.

Are the groups vertically stringing or just all over the place vertical and horizontal.

All over the place mate, can have 3 or 4 bang on the bull, then they can be 2 inches to the left or high, totally random, best group was inch and a half at 25 yards with not a breath of wind, when I was bored I was shooting wasps on the apples at 43 yards every time, (that's obviously when it was shooting good).

My hw100 .22 did the same, but I could notice a difference in the loading cycle!

So I took the band off the mag fully degreased it then oiled the band and stood the rifle up stock down and dropped a few drops of oil on the mag indexer and let it run down the pin!!

It cured mine, think it was scratching the face of the pellets which results in them going all over!

Think If the power was all over it would more likley result in height fluctuation!

Worth a try, my mates had his 100 over five years and never had it serviced and its still bang on at 11.4 lbs

Si is right that's why I asked about the vertical stringing.

Spot on about the mag o'rings and mag indexer Si.

If over 28 shots a variation of 20fps or less is seen, then I would be looking for a mechanical issue. I get a spread over x2 mags of about 11-12fps so +/- 6fps. I have looked around the the norm is 10-12fps spread on hw100kt in .22.

If everything checks out the barrel might have gone bad, my Steyr barrrel did and I put a hw .177 on it and removed the LW. Maybe a recrown could be the answer.

I am not a fan of the hw .22 barrels they seem pretty poor accuracy wise.

I look forward to hearing what it turns out to be.

When I tested it before it had a max spread of 9 fps from two mags, had it not been for one shot it would have been 6fps, am waiting for my mate to come over as his chrono plugs in and it gives a complete graph and printout, same chrono as I used last time.

Ok, it's definitely got a leak, it seems to be getting worse as its now noticeable on the gauge, 20 bar in 10 hours, so a full seal kit ordered and it will be getting a full strip and service next week just as soon as the seals arrive.

If you've got the time and patience you could have a try yourself mate.

Take a look at the link I've posted from another forum that gives a good step by step tutorial with pictures.

Top man, that's an excellent guide, feel a whole lot more confident after reading that, thank you.
