Greyman 28,409
Just gave the chimney a good sweep and chopped about half a ton of wood, can't believe it's that time again, soon be dark nights and roaring fires
dytkos 17,784
Your house insurance might not pay out for a chimney fire if you don't have it done by a "professional" Cheers, D.

Greyman 28,409
Your house insurance might not pay out for a chimney fire if you don't have it done by a "professional" Cheers, D. I do a better job mate and as I burn a lot of rubbish I like to do it regularly, your house insurance will always try and wriggle out of paying but I,m an old fashion bloke and would never pay anyone for doing something I can do myself, one professional clean is more than a set of brush,s just like a truck load of logs costs more than a chainsaw so I cut my own, infact most of my life is probably a little frowned upon by the modern pc, health and safety, insurance claims and blames culture of today, but I survive, thanks for your concern
Greyman 28,409
Just drop a live chicken down it.. I don't think the misses would like the mess of a sooty chicken running round the house, in days gone by a rope was just dropped down the chimney and attached to a branch which was just pulled down the chimney job done,

Jonjon79 13,358
I'd love an open fire. The last time we had one was when I was a kid and we lived in a mobile home. I'd go with Dad to get the coal, he'd pay for 1 sack and take 2. I remember carrying one home when I was 7. It was heavy and smelly and dusty - Happy days

Got a log burner fitted, soooooo much better.
