Mixy Is Taking Hold.

Recommended Posts

Took my dog out tonight for a long walk and did not see one single rabbit. Two months ago we used to sit and watch them run around playing.

Last night I shot a rabbit riddled with mixy and on leaving my permission watched two rabbits hopping aimlessly about blinded by this dreadfully cruel, introduced, disease.

Any mixy in your areas lads as I`m reading reports of mixy hitting many parts ?

Mixy is an odd disease, there are parts of area's here that very rarely get it, yet half a mile up the road and it pops up every year. Down on the coast there is a 12 mile stretch that got it every year, yet come spring there are were always plenty of young about. That was before the VHD hit a couple of years ago, now I cannot remember when I last seen a rabbit down there.

I'm seeing Mixy on one of my permissions here where, last seasons before, the rabbits were in beautiful, healthy condition. It's a sad sight to see a once fine and healthy animal reduced to a blind, bedraggled looking rag, stumbling about for food.

I hate cruelty to any living thing. I don't care if it's vermin. A humane shot to the head is the best thing for these creatures.
