green dragon 701
The Last Battle If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must be done, For this — the last battle — can't be won. You will be sad I understand, But don't let grief then stay your hand, For on this day, more than the rest, Your love for me must stand the test. We have had so many happy years, You wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend, Only, stay with me till the end And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Don't grieve that it must be you Who has to decide this thing to do; We've been so close — we two — these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. RIP Old lady........ Haiddheliwr 1,911
Ossie that was such an apt poem for a situation each one of us has experienced and unfortunately always to come. When I read it I sat with my terrier who is knocking on eleven and held her more than she is used to. Thanks mate I really hope it has brought some comfort to Johnny as well. ATB 1 Quote Link to post

Aye the bitch will be missed and not because she was a top worker but because she was a great companion, always a pleasure to have around. Was equally happy working a warren all day or led down beside me fishing. I've got some great memories of the dog and they'll always stay with me....thanks again lads. PS......Arch you fecker I was dealing with losing the bitch until you stuck that poem up and that got me. ? 9 Quote Link to post
