mark williams 7,552
Had a couple of hours at one of the rabbit perms tonight but it was slow due to the farm working late. Anyways with it being a breezeless evening I thought I`ll use the very recent calibration I set up on the kt. 50 and 51 yd shots using AA Fields 8.4 g, 4.52 The rabbit photo is a recent photo as the rabbit shot tonight had mixy and was not appropriate. Exactly one mill dot hold over at 50 yds. Calibrating last week I was still getting 5p groups, hence the results. atb 7 Quote Link to post
David.evans 5,323
Get out to 60 mark , it's well possible Atb Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,552
I can well imagine Dave Set in my " old fashioned ways maybe" - the rabbit shot was one I`ll remember for a long, long time. Thing that matters is that " I`m now very confident" out to 50 yards.( on still days). atb 2 Quote Link to post

Gary73 62
I dont push past 50 yards and even 50 yards has to be a very calm day. I prefer the ambush technique up to 40 yards as when the chance present's itself I want to make the shot count. Where I shoot the area has had a lot of pressure and even the slightest glimpse of danger they are off. I dont see rabbits until the last 5 mins of daylight so have to rely on NV. I tend to setup 30 yards down wind of the warren use the rangefinder to pick out markers, full camo tucked in to a hedge with netting sitting with a bipod. Put the Nitesite Viper on and night time rangefinder and its ok. Just a shame the place has been heavily shot, ferreted and dogs used. 2 Quote Link to post
Durham John 693
Accurate shooting as ever Mark. Confirmation that last week's calibration session has instilled positive things in you. 1 Quote Link to post

Gary73 62
Struggled today shooting the wind was variable and changing direction. The best I could do was 3/8" groups at 30 yards and 1.5" groups at 50 yards. I would use the .177 R10 in perfect conditions at 50-55 yards but anything less than perfect and I would not push anything more than 45 yards. The .22 Hw100kt I would push to 45 yards max but would want to keep it at 40 yards and in. I also think a limiting factor could be my scopes being 3-9x40 and 4-12x44 so more mag would help. i should drop the bushnell 8-32x40 on to the R10 lol but it would look silly. The R10 could become a long range sniper. Edited September 7, 2016 by Gary73 1 Quote Link to post
just-A-snap 1,269
Well done mark, comfort zone extended with practise and with every clean kill. All the best 1 Quote Link to post
Gary73 62
Had a re-think. I think regardless of conditions I will go to 45 yards max with the .177 and 40 yards with the .22. Each to their own but its not worth trying to push for another 10-15 yards for me. 1 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,552
Yes I would agree Gary, I now know I can hit a 5p group out to 50 yds max with my HW 100 KT .177 in " perfect conditions" ( which isn`t very often), so won`t be attempted very often. I just love to get close with air rifles. ( field craft I much prefer and is very enjoyable when achieved ). atb 1 Quote Link to post
