Ferret Biting

Any tips on how to stop my ferret biting I've only just had him and he's a feisty 1 I know he's not very old but when I hold him he goes mad

Just keep handling him and he'll be fine, they all do it at that age. Just don't lose your temper with it.

I had the same problem with 2 of mine, got them young but not very well handled.

 

Started out with gloves to keep bites at bay then went to bitter bite spray instead (got it on amazon) which soon cured them.

find when ferrets not handled well and they bite a glove to start with then work onto the hand, many a scar on both hands from ferrets that aint been handled enough 20 mins a day keeps the biteing at bay

Biting is a form of play for young Mustelids, it prepairs them to be able to hunt on their own when their parents drop them off. He'll get bored, just keep him fed and handle him.

Feed him well before you pick him up-only a pussy would handle a ferret with a glove lol;)used to just let them bite and push my finger right back in the mouth if I get a biter-they soon think f**k that.or give it to the kids to play with.atb dc

Smack it's nose or push into it's mouth when it bites. Hurts you like hell but it doesn't take long for them to get it (this advice is not for kits)

My hand was. Ragged badly some years ago by a mates ferret. It's a thing I'll never forget. Each of my fingers were in for attack and by gum it didn't take long. The thing was mental. Now the truth is that my mate handled this ferret on a daily basis and had no problems with it. What, if anything, triggered the attack on me.? Yes. I'm a Jock. Yes. Outspoken.. Yes. Don't suffer fools. The list is endless. Still flipping hurt. I worry about anyone allowing a ferret near ones face as once it goes there is no going back. Only an opinion. Jok.

got a hob and a jill here, no problems, theres a bloke over the road from me, do they bite he asked, no I says, so he attemptied to stroke the hob, and it latched on to him, complete stranger and different smell to my ferrets, and that's why he go bit,

When you first get them feed them then as they feel sleepy handle them there less likely to bite , then if they want to bite offer them a knuckle and if they do bite push into there mouths till it chokes them then pull your knuckle out i would be surprised if after a week there still biting
