Fat-Ferret 857
I cover everything with a contract I made that can be changed to suit any job, anything more than a day is 50% up front as well... Once bitten... 1 Quote Link to post

Torquemada 288
Taking any kind of revenge might look appealing ( Plus if you have SGC/FAC then you are going to lose that, and the respect of your mates for being a bell end) but you have to think that you are running a small local business, are reputation takes a long time to earn, and 10 seconds to lose. With B2B I've only ever had 2 firms stitch me up, and it wasn't for much. What usually works with slow payers is just being persistent, eventually they pay up, and then you never work for them again. Most people are happy to pay up front, if not, then use your judgement... My personal favourites are the ones who think extending the scope of the work shouldn't incur extra charges. For example, I was doing some a mole job in a large rural garden, and after the first visit it was obvious there were rats around the chickens. So I mentioned it to the customer and was asked to take care of it at the same time, when I told the customer the charge she was genuinely shocked, "but you're here anyway doing the moles" she said!! jok 3,269
Slightly of the scal but with the same problem. Did a marquee job for a distinguished Coloured gentleman. When I returned to take down, the mess was appalling. My guys refused to clean up as this, quite rightly, is not their remit. Well being a kind of do as you do kind of guy, I shit on the front seat of his Mercedes. That got things sorted. Jok 1 Quote Link to post

If your trying to run a business then you have got to roll with the punches and bite your tounge hard sometimes...especially when in the pest control business. Sometimes lessons in business can be very expensive but it will be a mistake you will never repeat again hopefully. When I get a call out they are told on the phone the price, of course they try and haggle but I tell them the price is the price non negotiable.. if not happy im not haggling or turning up simple as that. If its a contract I work it our correctly so I make profit...im not doing it just to work! fek that id rather go hunting. if its a contract they either pay up full before I even set up, or the first 6 months and if not phone Rentokil.. 3 Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
I've found customers in general are moaning more about the price , but not until you've completed it , up until then when they need !!! your expertise the're all nicey , nicey.... I have started to tell people who insist that have wasps ??? , that if I get there and they are not there will be a small callout fee , just to cover my fuel . Always tell them this on the phone before I arrive , 3 times in the last month I have had people refuse to pay this , after aggreeing on the phone . Each time is a similar answer , something along the lines off , " well you haven't done any thing " . AAARRRGGGHHHH... Edited September 10, 2016 by Rowan Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
It just doesn't seem to matter to some people how many questions you ask them to clarify that they have wasps , they are just convinced they have. Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
We had a guy with bad mouse and rat activity in his house and garden, brand new rolls Royce, maclaren, Audi Q5, TT on the drive behind big gates. Took a few visits to sort it and the cheeky bastid refused to pay! Complete tests people like that! Quote Link to post
