stuartpengs 19
Hi all, I was wondering if the fantastic collective knowledge base on the forum could just double check something for me before I make a monumental cock-up. I'm taking delivery of a Anschutz 1517 HMR left hand thumb-hole next week and want to make a couple of minor additions to it. I'll be topping it off with a new Drone Pro x15 so the first thing I want to do is fit a suitable rail to the action. Now I think I'm right in saying the 1517 has a 64 action so I'm looking at ordering a dedicated 0MOA rail from Kinneys in the States. I was wondering could the the collective have a look at this page and confirm my suspicions that the rail I need is the first one (left hand side) on the page. I know my gun has a left hand stock but it retains a right hand action so am I right in thinking it's not the left hand rail I need but the right hand one? http://kinneysshootingsupply.com/collections/anschutz-accessories Obviously ordering from the States does present a few returns headaches should I get it wrong, so would really appreciate any input. Secondly I'll also be ordering one of the aftermarket bolt handles from the same page. Has anyone has any experience removing factory bolt knobs, is it something that can be done relatively easy? Thank you in advance for your help. Quote Link to post
Jax13 251
Bolt knob can be tricky. Some. Simply unscrew off a threaded stem so they are a simple swap (might need to heat it to crack off the loctite) others are one piece so need grinding / milling then ideally threading so the replacement can be screwed on. I do not know which the Annie use though. Sorry. If your knob isn't an unscrewable one, there are slip on rubber bolt knobs on eBay for a fiver that dramatically improve the feel of a skinny or small bolt knob, especially for winter use if you wear gloves. The rail, 0moa and right handed to suit the action would be what I'd order if it's a rh action in a lh stock. Quote Link to post

There are single slot dovetail to weaver adaptors on eBay that look pretty neat though... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121938501790 1 Quote Link to post
stuartpengs 19
Thanks Jax, appreciate your input. I might leave the bolt handle for a while and see how it goes then. I've ordered a pair of those ones you've linked from eBay already as a stop gap, they just look a bit flimsy in the pic. Glad you agree with the rail selection form Kinneys, I've ordered one, should be here in 7 to 10 days. It really looks the part (judging by the pics) and should give a really secure mounting. I'll get some pics up of the set-up once it's all bolted together. Thanks again Jax. Quote Link to post
