David.evans 5,323
BN i think 4fbs is the mini , you need to kill a rabbit stone dead , so at 40 well in , i say you can work it out on chair gun , atb mate didnt realise that you could hit any thing at 40 yard Quote Link to post

big napper 3,575
Cheers gary i cant get the answer from that mate, cheers anyway Quote Link to post
Gary73 62
Using a 8.44gr pellet in .177 to achieve 4ft/lbs at 40m you would need 600fps (6.75ft/lbs) at the muzzle which would equate to 464fps (4.04ft/lbs) at 40m. I have heard 3ft/lbs to kill a rabbit, so 400fps in 8.44gr at 40m. So a muzzle energy of 5.07ft/lbs. Thats my calcs using chairgun. Edited September 2, 2016 by Gary73 1 Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
I cant dave, whats chairgun mate chairgun is a program for the computer made buy hawke for working out your mildots on the far left of the screen is a table that tells you the energy retained at variose distances! play about till you hit 3lb then the fps will be next to it atb si 2 Quote Link to post
Gary73 62
My .177 R10 using 10.34gr exact heavys if using the 4ft/lbs to kill would be ok at 115 yards. Edited September 2, 2016 by Gary73 Quote Link to post
big napper 3,575
Nice one gents, thanks for that The gun is hw100, pellets 10.34 jsb heavies, 700fps so 11.2 ftlb I just wanted to make sure it was good enough to do rabbits at a 40 mtr distance before i put the nv on it and take it out. Il be shooting no more than thst distance so it sll sounds good 1 Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
At 45yrd you'll be hitting it at 7.90 ftlbf!! and doing 587.7 fps Plenty enough bn Atb Si 2 Quote Link to post
Gary73 62
My R10 doing 710fps at the muzzle had the 10.34gr exact heavy's showing a bc of 0.0271. I reckon 575fps 7.6ft/lbs at 43 yards 40m approx. Enough to go in and out the other side....lol watch your back stops. 1 Quote Link to post

If things are going well, you can add another 10 mtrs and still have clean kills Atb 2 Quote Link to post
