Alex Alex 3
hi all, new to the forum clearly so apologises for the post being a request for advise. i just wondered if anyone knew what the legal status would be of an s410 post anti tamper with its tamper screw removed and a pre anti tamper grub screw back in ts place? the gun is under the legal limit but just wondered how it would stand with the fire arms officers if tested and inspected? thanks in advance Quote Link to post
moxy 617
No problems at all provided it remains sub 12ft/lb Quote Link to post
just-A-snap 1,269
As long as it complies with the legal limit all is fine. That is my understanding of the law. Quote Link to post
Alex Alex 3
Thanks for the response. It's currently being tested and should be well under the limit. Unfortunately some nuisance neighbours reported me for having an over powered rifle and now I'm gunless while they prove them wrong ? Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
If I remember correctly, it's fine to remove an antitamper if your intentions are to keep your rifle legal and in check. It's external power adaptors that have the potential to increase power beyond 12ftlb that they dont like. 2 Quote Link to post

Alex Alex 3
Seems you were right. Had the call today to advise they were returning the gun later today which was quick I thought considering they only took it away Friday evening. There was a little conversation reqarding it but all was well once justified. Thanks again for The advise ?? 1 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
How did your neighbour know the rifle was illegally powerful? Surely the Police would ask this of him/her/them for their evidences of this? 2 Quote Link to post
Alex Alex 3
How did your neighbour know the rifle was illegally powerful? Surely the Police would ask this of him/her/them for their evidences of this? this is a question i also put to them and they responded with "any firearms allegation has to be followed up and investigated accordingly". I had problems a year ago with the neighbours and explained this to them stating that i expected him to go around there and set them straight but they told me they didnt actually know who it was specifically as it was an anonymous report through crimestopers. In all fairness the officers was absolutely spot on which i personally think is a rarity these days, and he couldn't have been more helpful and friendly if he tried. He had pushed the inspection to the front of the Que as he said he felt a little sorry for me when he turned up as i was just getting my stuff ready to go out shooting on my perm and then obviously took it there and then. It turned out that the officer used to shoot on my perm himself which was quite lucky. I guess as you get a little older you realise that the best way to deal with these kind of situations is to be as polite and helpful as possible in order to get the best outcome. I think perhaps had this happened a few years ago i probably wouldnt have seen the gun again for quite some time ha. 2 Quote Link to post
