IanB 0
I haven't been home long, what with christmas on the horizon I ended up having a christmas drink with some lads I won't see till the new year, haven't touched the stuff for a few weeks and made a pig of myself, so I was feeling worse for wear the next day... .. I decided some fresh air was needed , so me and butler headed out with the terriers in the hope of a fox, first farm we checked on, theres a large area of bales, willow was entered and could be heard baying, moving up and down the stack, she was in a good hour, working her way along up and down the levels...with myself on the top, gun at the ready for a bolt... just as I was not paying attention for a few seconds, I turned quick to see her baying along the side of the bales 10yds behind foxy, never really had time to take a safe shot and the fox bolted back into the stack, we gave it half hour and then moved on, not wanting to waist too much time as we already had somewhere else to check... 10 mile down the road we arrived at the farm, and parked the vehicle alongside the wood, which the shoot covers, on the hedgeside was a dead tup, half eaten and the surrounding area had the familiar musky smell... First earth we came to, I'd past a month ago and the signs were good, we entered willow, butlers border and dug to her at 6' through clay and sand, luckily missing any roots and hitting a brick ledge above the tube, willow was taken out and the fox dispatched...Shes worth her weight in gold this little bitch... long live the comedy border... Butler 396
She got the name a good few years back cos you can shout her out she ain't a real digging dog just a comedy one But she has accounted for more quarry than alot of dogs because of her working style She will be out again tomorrow, Sunday and probably Monday to, can't do that with alot of REAL dogs She isn't from any famous lines just got her and her sister from a lad who kept and worked borders from a little village in Durham. The young dog dutch has bolted a fox from a pisser of a place but as of yet hasn't been dug to but his time will come very soon Quote Link to post
