Air Skinning

Recommended Posts

has anyone ever used the air skinning method to skin there dead animals.....?

we was watching a program called duel survival, and this guy found a bike with a co2 bike pump on it, he snared a rabbit/possum thing using the inner brake cable, he then went on to say, that he once used the air skinning method to do his rabbits (when he had a lot to do) he said it made things a lot quicker,

basically, what you do is...make a small nick down by it's tail, then insert the nozzle of the pump, and pull the trigger....it blow this rabbit up like a balloon as the skin separated from the meat.....it looked like something in a shrek movie.....

then you gut it like normal, and the whole skin comes off easier,

just wondered if anyone has done this before?

I use this method when skinning lambs and sheep but I use a small divers bottle I have for pre charged air rifles ...put a nik at the knee on each leg just where you would start skinning

Iv skinned hundreds of cows after blowing up with compressor. Makes it easier but didn't blow the skin off the animal.

I wouldn't bother if it was fresh meat I was eating

Was that Josh James? I'm sure he mentions the air skinning in his vlogs.

yes...New Zealander, Josh James, and American Grady Powell...i find that Josh so funny, i bet he's a great laugh....

I like the fella. If I had the money I'd be straight on one of his raft hunts and guided tahr hunts. He has a youtube channel with plenty on, Josh James the kiwi bushman.

my dad says that his old man bred rabbits during the war, and he used to make a little hole in the belly thwen blow them up with this own breath. never tried oit myself though. lately i have been skinning deer with the winch on the front of the vehicle, does a brilliant job. bit like this, but there are far more effective ways of tying the deer than just dangling it from the ceiling.
