MIK 4,756
The roe rut seemed to have went a bit quiet last week then my young lad was out on his bike last night at the back of my house and had been away longer than expected so was sent by his mother to go and see where he was ... About 150 yards down the road I could see his bike lying on the grass verge at the side of the road ...panic set in then as I got closer I could see him in the cover looking over a spring barely field ....the wee fella was excited he had been watching a buck chasing a doe I must of got the story about 10 times describing how it's tongue was hanging out and how it was chasing her then he would stop and chase her again round and round it was great to see him so passionate about some thing most kids would not even notice . So got back from lamping last night and in bed for 2 and set the alarm for 4 but it was too foggy , too tell you the truth I was a bit glad after only 2 hours sleep . Was out today on some permission that borders on a big clump of mixed woodland ...the wind was perfect so sat in the truck and started calling with the butalo and spied a dark coloured buck with dark horn so walked along to about 100 yards from the wood ,set up on the bi pod and called for a bout 20 mins and didn't see the buck again so got up emptied the rifle and a buck to my right must of heard me and started barking .....got back down and stated calling again ...seconds later this light coloured buck appeared running up the fence and was in a frantic state to get over to the call ...gave him a shout and he stopped and grassed him with a 50 gr sake game head in the neck at 60 yards . Judging by the width of his cornets this old lad would have been decent in his day 5 Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Looks a goodun - I agree that judging from those coronets and his grey face on the other side of prime, hardly going back though.... Just right - nice one. Quote Link to post
MIK 4,756
Surely a beast that was not as good as last year is going back but that's just my thoughts Quote Link to post
