skycat 6,173
Next to the fishing lakes round here there are two sunken tanks. I'm totally ignorant of how fish breed, but I wondered if they could have been used to stock growing fish at one time? Sorry for the ridiculous suggestion, but can't think of any other reason they are there, just a few metres away from one of the lakes. Anyway, countless times my terriers have got stuck in one of them after they've ploughed through the brambles surrounding the tanks and gone flying off the edge. A sensible dog that swims all the way round can find its way back up on side that's collapsed a bit, but it's scary watching them learn as youngsters. Truth is they're not very deep at all, but could still be a danger to a small child. Another thing are the weirs, which are kind of fenced off, but so easy for a dog or child to get through the bars and slip into the water. One dog did it, and despite calling her for ages to swim down the river, she just stayed scrabbling away at the weir until she was too tired, and let the water carry her downstream a few yards and we were able to haul her out. It did wear her claws down perfectly on her front feet though. 1 Quote Link to post
