king 11,971
@ W. Katchum, are you really a secret bull x fan/owner, like you are with whippets, or do you really dislike the type? I think I know, but you do make me think 'outside the box' at times lol He loves fishing on here more than he loves any type of dog. Haha. I don't think we will ever know his true feelings but like you I enjoy trying to guess. Lol. @ W. Too many idiots with them thinking they are they bees knees because they carry a bit of muscle and strike a nice pose so churn pups out of them when they've seen a seasons worth of work spread over 5. But I have seen a few good ones and the good ones are good. Plus I do like the look of them. Looks don't kill but it helps when you gotta feed the thing every day. Lol Pretty accurate with what you both say there. I've not seen one good bull x, and I mean proper bull/greyhound, no other blood, in 40 years. Seen a few cracking dogs with about an 8th or 16th bull blood, along with a bit of collie or deerhound etc. And like I've said before, I'm talking about general lurcher work, not waiting around an earth. The fact that I don't like them, doesn't mean I dislike bull breeds though, I love staffs etc. And I've got to admit, some lads have got these bull x's in great nick, king's fawn dog off here for example, not my cup of tea, but he's got him in very good nick. Anyway, not long now lads, the weather's starting to get a tad more favorable To be honest shark he's not in condition at all in the standing pic he's been lying around the garden all summer eating and relaxing apart from an 1 hr walk to the stream its been nearly 3 weeks now since I've tried getting him fit but the hot weather ain't been on my side.the last week of September he should be in the best condition I can get him.Weather depending. But like you told me a few months ago. He won't catch anything not even a rabbit. So fingers crossed he will catch something. I haven't spent 20yrs getting dogs super fit for walking the street. Hope you have a good season. 2 Quote Link to post

I know a few Bullx that can catch hares and deer As have many others. The main reason the Bull bred lurcher receives the amount of flack it does is because of the feckwits and nuggets that own them, use them as a status symbol, hunt in a manner the majority find utterly repulsive, breed out of dross throwing names about like confetti and slabber on like a second rate fisherman and his catch.Ive seen my share of very useful bull bred lurchers, lurchers whose owners have little in common with, with many that own the breed. The minority of feckwit bull x owners are responsible for the majority of dross bred, finding a decent un is a task in itself, yet they are certainly out there and well equip themselves in the field and the honest folk about get decent service from their charges, honesty that is lost on many and the Bull x owners don,t hold a monopoly on that,Saluki owners took over .Id not own another lurcher even 1/4 bull bred, firstly there are better options about that are more useful more often, secondly i don,t have the hunting lifestyle that a good Bull x excels at. 4 Quote Link to post
