j1985 1,983
Now the lads that know me on here will know full well I'm not the kinda guy that would be informing anyone apart from close mates what I'm upto or where I'm doing it especially the bloody police loool But, I picked up new digging, lamping and shooting (if for some reason the dogs are knackered) right by my house last year, 5 mins drive with keys to all gates and the keepers sound he let's me do whatever. Now the fields are finishing up being cut today and he's asked me to lamp there tonight and the land owner has asked him to ask me to inform the police that I'm going to be there. Here's my dilemma, do I do it at all and if so what the f**k would I say. Keeper said tell them you're out with the air rifle and give a rough location. But even that to me seems crazy. Can't get my head around it and don't really wanna lie incase for some reason something happens and the pigs turn up... Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
Say your doing rabbiting in so n so area. Plenty of shooters do it. But I know where your coming from Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
It's a tough one mate. Not my cup of tea that, ringing police to tell them what im up to. But then as you know good permission is hard to come by and you've gotta keep landowners sweet if you want to keep it. My worry would be telling police I'm lamping with dogs, nosey b*****ds will probably come to see what exactly you're up to. I would be more inclined to tell them the location and say you will be taking an air rifle, even take an air rifle with you in the boot? Stops them being too inquisitive, you've kept your agreement with land owner and you've not really told any lies, you've just not told the full story. 1 Quote Link to post

sher1 56
Always carry your permission slip to. I got mine liminated helps out a lot if for some reason you do get pulled. Quote Link to post
Moja 111
Iv to ring ahead even with the dog because it's such a heavily shooted area and plus then to carry a little something just incase I drop a few bits , I ain't a lover of the old bill.. But if I don't and get a tug trying to explain to the keeper and the old land owner would be to much and worth more hassle than it's worth and just might lose me that little place, two min phone call I'd do it.... PeskyWabbits 464
I would do as asked, there is probably some history. Just don't wear your cowboy outfit, here in West Yorkshire the police guns are trigger happy, any excuse. All that pent up frustration from all the hours training, they're desperate to give it a go.
