terryd 8,469
Not essential but it gives me peace of mind. I remember as a kid having the ferret go over the top of the rabbit and kill it and get stuck on the wrong side. Real pain the arse to dig out with out a finder and luck more than any thing finding it Quote Link to post
mad4it 694
If you value your ferret(s) you would not even think about ferreting with out a finder, 2 Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Every year you work a ferret, the better they get, and the more valuable they become to you. And it's the heart crushing decision to leave one behind because you couldn't find it all because you were to tight to buy a locator. 5 Quote Link to post
The one 8,481
No if your just starting Rember your field craft and you will get some ferreting in if the ferret kills in you better get used to waiting about . I take a locator with me and hope no to use it while I'm ferreting one burrow I try to be netting up the next I think most folk are too quick to be reaching for a spade when ferreting with a locator 1 Quote Link to post
johnrthrfrd 223
No but i wouldn't put a ferret down a hole without one now. I used to ferret before they were out a lot of unnecessary digging and a lot of frustration and waiting about technologys there so use it if you can afford it makes life much easier. 1 Quote Link to post

Arry 21,969
See if you can pickup a MK 1 they are fine and should be cheaper. As the other lads said you get attached to your ferrets and as they get older they become more valuable to you. Spent many an hour years ago before finders on my hands and knees with my ear to the ground listening trying to locate the ferret. With a finder its peace of mind knowing that the ferret is still in the burrow and where it is. Would not go out with out one myself. Cheers Arry 1 Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
I wouldn't go without one now. Last year I had a collar stop working when i was out so I stuck to small Warrens. I kid you not I put my faveroute hob in a 3 holer and he just vanished. It took 2 weeks to get him back. I got a mk3m and 2 collars for £105 bidding on ebay during the summer time. 1 Quote Link to post
