I always take the locator and always collar up the ferrets, not because I like to dig, but from time to time ferrets do go awal. Last time I got the locator out, and I only get it out when I have to,

I would always advise using one. I lost a ferret on a railway siding as a youngster ever since I've used them, touch wood have never lost another in 20 years of ferreting, the way I look at it is if y

Not essential but it gives me peace of mind. I remember as a kid having the ferret go over the top of the rabbit and kill it and get stuck on the wrong side. Real pain the arse to dig out with out a finder and luck more than any thing finding it

No if your just starting Rember your field craft and you will get some ferreting in if the ferret kills in you better get used to waiting about . I take a locator with me and hope no to use it while I'm ferreting one burrow I try to be netting up the next I think most folk are too quick to be reaching for a spade when ferreting with a locator

See if you can pickup a MK 1 they are fine and should be cheaper. As the other lads said you get attached to your ferrets and as they get older they become more valuable to you. Spent many an hour years ago before finders on my hands and knees with my ear to the ground listening trying to locate the ferret. With a finder its peace of mind knowing that the ferret is still in the burrow and where it is. Would not go out with out one myself.

Cheers Arry

I wouldn't go without one now. Last year I had a collar stop working when i was out so I stuck to small Warrens. I kid you not I put my faveroute hob in a 3 holer and he just vanished. It took 2 weeks to get him back.

I got a mk3m and 2 collars for £105 bidding on ebay during the summer time.
