Letter Off The Bank Regarding Ppi

Recommended Posts

Some years ago I took out a small personal bank loan with the Yorkshire bank & had PPI on the loan basically because they said I had to have it in case I was made redundant etc .

The loans been paid off & I have never given any thought to claiming back the PPI ... so I was surprised to get this letter off the bank inviting me to claim back the PPI

Has anyone else had any letter off there banks as I am a bit puzzled there basically admitting it was miss sold to me , I thought the banks only got to make any pay outs when it was pursued by a third party company

I cant remember when I took the loan out tbh & have no idea where I worked at the time so cant fill in the form anyway  is it worh me writing a cover note telling them I have no idea where I was working at the time & I have no paperwork for the loan ... or shall i just bin it ?

If you're sure it's from your bank, go for it! Write back and say you need some help with the exact details as they obviously know all about it. Banks have to pay it back anyway. These 3rd party companies just charge a fortune for what you could easily do yourself.

Ring them and ask them the craic, they'll bend over backwards to get you sorted out. In Ireland the onus is on them to sort out customers that were misssold products that were no benefit to them or the financial regulator will chew them out...plus it looks bad and they're afraid heads will roll at the top. I got near 2k back from ppi. I went on the money saving expert website, filled in the form and sent it off . It is quite easy to do and no need for 3rd party . I'm crap things like that and I managed to get it done .

I would be a bit mistrusting of the bank sending post to me . If it was the bank they would have all your details ready anyway

Yep my missus got a letter last year off her bank. Claimed it direct off them. She got just under £1000.

I thought it was strange them holding their hands up and offering you to claim but it must work in their favour as opposed to you getting a third party company involved.
