Dave6592 51
Hi lads, I recently bought a catapult just for taking the odd rabbit whilst walking the dog, however, I'm finding it hard to get within 20 yards of a rabbit without it legging it! Any tips or tricks? Cheers.

Dave6592 51
Cheers lads! To be honest the dog doesn't pay any attention to them (he's old and just happy to trot along) but will try to be a lot more quiet with the wind in my face. I'll let you know how I get on! P.S don't fancy myself becoming a ginger! Aha!

Jonjon79 13,358
Maybe try them at dusk or dawn, when you've got poor light on your side. Their eyes aren't great so, if you can keep low and slow, with foliage behind you to disguise your outline, you're in with a better chance of not getting spotted. Always be down wind because their sense of smell is good. Be patient - if you're stalking into it and it becomes alert, stop and wait for it to relax before you move again. Also, get in a lot of practice with your catty. Personally, I find them very difficult to shoot. I normally hunt rabbit at night with a PCP and NV kit but, even that can be very tricky. Good luck and, don't give up on it

Slow and steady sounds good with the foliage as cover, will definitely try these tips! Cheers.

cattykid123 122
Iv had 5 rabbits in half hour with the catty there an easy target if you can hit em I normally shoot em at 20 25 yards on foot like I seid mate practice at range then closer shots will be easy or learn how to shoot ttf helps a lot with accuracy
