derekbrown 176
No better boys than coursing club members to vandalise vechicles and slash tyres once nobody is watching" if they are being watched then no better boys to run to their vehicles shouting threats as they retreat.

derekbrown 176
The Irish hare belongs to the Irish people, most men that course them give them a lot more respect and fair play than the coursing clubs do.

neil cooney 10,416
It's going to get worse. I'm not taking sides as I think a lurcher or a greyhound on a hare that's on it's own sod is the finest of coursing there is and I'm 30 years watching coursing. No farmer wants to be intimated on his own land and it's all well and good saying that the Irish hare belongs to the Irish man but trespass is trespass and most farmers don't give two fiddlers f**k about a hares life but they do worry about their fencing and livestock. That's why the lurcher lads who have some cop on and a yard to park in seem to never have a problem. But the bigger problem is that this week the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the I.S.P.C.A. have agreed to join forces with the Gardi to make illegal hare coursing and badger baiting (does that still go on ??) a thing of the past . So in the future the lad popping out for a rabbit or two will probably get more than a visit of the authorities. That combined with two fishery officers have guns pointed at them lately will make all who partake in legal fieldsports under suspicion .

jigsaw 11,865
just look on FB,one up one down shite in july ffs,Ive not set foot inside a field to hunt since start of february,I get to land where I know the farmers and they tell me there was a car/jeep/van parked up with lads wandering about like it was their back garden,I was parked in a yard 2 years ago and while on the land 4 a holes decided theyd teach me a lesson with sticks and battons,i made it to the yard where they could do fuk all, next time i was out there I had the cops waiting for me back at the van, asking what I was doing, how many dogs I had,,,no doubt what so ever sent in by the same pricks that couldnt get to me the time before...and you can be sure i'll be out there again this season as I have full blessing of the land owner.I know of circumstances where the land owners were threathened by a gang load of coursing guys, the farmer saw 4 dogs being run on 1 hare and in the middle of september,he called the cops and a few days later they entered his house and threathened the old man again,I also know of a very well known terrier man getting back to his 4x4 and finding a huge rock thrown through his screen, they thinking he was at the hares, and the man has no interest in running dogs whatsoever..as I said its going to be an interesting season in places.
Shovel shy 4,033
Gun clubs and coursing clubs are full of arrogant wankers. Gc got hunting stopped in certain aread we hunt. I got talking to farmers and we produced insurance from nargc. Weve got permission to hunt there again.only to be stopped by gc lads at one of the covers last year. Told them about permission. And they wernt happy.turnd up to another cover last year to find two foxes shot by rifle on lamp hung on the gate. They shoot them on saturday nights cos we hunt sundays.they think there above the law.

desertbred 5,490
I have found that most land owners,Farmers are decent folk been stopped on land a few times without permission , and have been asked to move on which we do without any argument or threats. The most Anal appear to be Managers of the big Agricultural holdings they are arrogant and will usually turn up with plod in tow. I have lost permissions in the past where the Wild life Officers have threatened land owners and Farmers with Dire consequences if they allow running lads on the land. The threats and intimidation is bang out of order if your requested to leave the land do it, would you like a farmer driving his tractor round your garden or trampling through the flower beds. When you get the gung ho clubs/ local poacher watch etc slashing tyers or blocking vehicles in that is also unacceptable . Its a difficult situation to reach a balance especially with the Hunting ACT, one thing is for sure the hunting with dogs will never finish but attitudes on both sides of the fence have to reach a compromise. I for one would be perfectly willing to pay a licence fee to run my dogs and as with a lot of permissions pay a nominal fee for a days hassle free sport.
