Nowt wrong in getting them out early all the best dogs I've seen started young well done the pup

same here, just the hard ground on its feet ide worry about..they learn nothing getting walked round park.

I would of been one to wait until 12 months old until I met Trigger and saw his dogs. He educated me to get the dogs out as soon as they are jabbed. Tagging along on ferreting trips and lamping trips and giving them odd runs whenever they want them. That dog buster he posted about above has put some game away and I'm sure he's 6-7 years old and still got plenty left in him yet.

The one I have now no as she isn't mentally or physically able and won't be at that age ... Her mother Tilly caught a partridge out of a hedge row at 8 weeks of age and caught her own game consistently after that ... She tracked her first roe stag at 6 months of age ... All dogs are different and some are far more capable as pups than others .......

spot on, they learn field craft , fences, ditches, stock, etc, the sooner the better. more pups will get hurt running around 7 -8 months old 1st time out , running around like nutters trying to chase anything it sees, or dealing with obstacles it will encounter . i had my big dog Buck out at 10 weeks old, it deff made him alot calmer for when he started catching rabbits at 6 month old. when there young they might only get the odd couple runs, its no more different to giving them couple hours mooching in the day ferritin etc. Buck 4 year old this month, and caught loads of stuff, is best bag lamping 37 rabbits in a night, thats good for a big dog, getting them out you deff the best for the pup long term, trigg knows the score with his pup, he (not) pushing it just couple runs in nothing . i was out the other day for a hour with him and his pup, the pup had loads of energy , its out every day its nothing to it .:yes:
