neil cooney 10,416
We were at the meet one morning and an old boy at the meet asked why they never hunted his fox. He lived next door to a well known jockey and between the two houses was a a very old house. He said the fox lived in it. So it was decided that that would be the first draw. That fox jumped out the window of the house and gave us the best hunt that season. He went to ground and was left there but when we were fencing that evening we discovered that the fox had crossed several open badger settes without going in and believe me hounds had been on his arse. It could have been a 5 minute hunt but he decided to run rather than hide. Mentioning old cars reminds me of one day following Staghounds and two lads climbed up onto two old cars for a better view and 3 foxes bolted from under them. When I went back a week or so later there was no one at home. Quote Link to post

neil cooney 10,416
I know of a few island earths surrounded by deep water that regularly hold. Is their food source on the island or has anyone ever seen the parents bringing food over ? It's an interesting one that. 1 Quote Link to post

Treehands. 1,379
I know of a few island earths surrounded by deep water that regularly hold. Is their food source on the island or has anyone ever seen the parents bringing food over ? It's an interesting one that. On one island there's plenty for them, fishermen often saw Cubs an parents basking in the sun. We only got on when frozen but has 6ft depth. The others are just old setts with a huge moat and have no option but to swim to feed Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
Goes to show adaptable they are. Then when they were reared they either followed the vixen or made their own way of the islands. 1 Quote Link to post
