Bushing With Big Old Hob ?

hi terryd yea that's exactly what I,v got in mind, I have a beddy/whippet that tells me that rabbits are in cover and races up and down the ditches but won,t enter thick cover.i will get a bushing dog when the time is right but thought this might be a bit of fun for now. cheers plum!

As I recall he has lots of thick ditches and can't get near the holes so uses the ferret in a fashion of a busher. Uses bells on it so as he can keep tabs. He mentioned it on one of the posts about bells. I can't find the thread.

tried this a few years back long nets down and two hobs running lose problem i had they were buggers to catch at the end of the hunt dont think i,d try it again

 

that's what I was thinking ferrets aren't known for recall and would take a fair while to do a patch of cover

I,v been reading recently about someone using big old hob ferrets for bushing, anyone tried it ?

When bushing you need to cover a lot of ground quickly and the bushers need to be in front,a ferret would be a liability and would cover so little ground as to make it nearly useless.

Can't see if any burrow in thick cover if ferret go's in burrow you could be there forever getting rid of cover then digging tried wouldn't repeat waist of a day in my experiences all the best though I'd take spade an heg trimming stuff if you still going happy hunting mate
