luckyplum 50
hi terryd yea that's exactly what I,v got in mind, I have a beddy/whippet that tells me that rabbits are in cover and races up and down the ditches but won,t enter thick cover.i will get a bushing dog when the time is right but thought this might be a bit of fun for now. cheers plum! terryd 8,576
As I recall he has lots of thick ditches and can't get near the holes so uses the ferret in a fashion of a busher. Uses bells on it so as he can keep tabs. He mentioned it on one of the posts about bells. I can't find the thread. Quote Link to post

roybo 2,873
tried this a few years back long nets down and two hobs running lose problem i had they were buggers to catch at the end of the hunt dont think i,d try it again that's what I was thinking ferrets aren't known for recall and would take a fair while to do a patch of cover Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
I,v been reading recently about someone using big old hob ferrets for bushing, anyone tried it ? When bushing you need to cover a lot of ground quickly and the bushers need to be in front,a ferret would be a liability and would cover so little ground as to make it nearly useless. 2 Quote Link to post
luckyplum 50
yea fair point Morton although I still fancy giving it a go just for the craig, cheers plum ! Quote Link to post
terryd 8,576
small clumps of tight cover that you can view all around and if the dog marked I think it would be ok. Ferrets can get a bit of speed up though once they get going so need to be on the ball. Quote Link to post
steven35 30
Can't see if any burrow in thick cover if ferret go's in burrow you could be there forever getting rid of cover then digging tried wouldn't repeat waist of a day in my experiences all the best though I'd take spade an heg trimming stuff if you still going happy hunting mate Quote Link to post
